The Japanese Language NAT-TEST is a test that monitors the Japanese language ability of candidates who are not inborn Japanese speakers. The exams are divided by difficulty and general ability is calculated in three types: Grammar/Vocabulary, Listening as well as Reading Comprehension. Levels and Sections of the Test

The test contains 5 levels. Arranged from lowest to highest, they are N5, N4, N3, N2, N1, with N1 being the uppermost level of success. N5 Level: Most candidates can attain this initial level in 3 months of hard study with a program corresponding to the accomplishment of 25 chapters of the ‘Minna no Nihongo’ Textbook.

N4 Level: This second level can be accomplished for some candidates within 6 months of study with a program corresponding to the accomplishment of 50 chapters of the ‘Minna no Nihongo’ Textbook.

N3 Level: This third level of the exam can be accomplished within 9 months of study, in a course correspondent to 50 ‘Minna no Nihongo’ chapters as well as some popular N3 level-specific chapters such as Sou Matome, Shin Kanzen, Mimi Kara Oboeru, etc. This level of the exam is reflected to be mainly stimulating associated with the preceding two levels as it marks conversion from beginner to intermediate, and as such a new bulk of understanding is necessary.

Turnaround Time for Results

Results are usually made available within 3 weeks of the test date.
